U4GM Why Calem B2b Is a Must Run in Mega Decks

Calem-B2b is a smart draw Supporter for Mega-heavy decks, often netting 2-3 cards once the board fills up. Great in Mega Shine builds, but pretty weak if no Megas are in play.

Calem-B2b has quietly become one of those cards players keep circling back to in Mega Shine. It's card 068/069 from the Mega Gengar Pack, a 2-Diamond Supporter with a draw effect that looks simple at first and then gets way more interesting once you've played a few sets with it. You draw one card for each Mega Evolution Pokémon ex in play, and that includes both boards. That little detail changes everything. If you're already keeping up with the wider Pocket scene, trading chatter, or even browsing places like U4GM for game-related services and account info, you've probably noticed how often this card comes up whenever Mega decks are discussed. It's not flashy on paper, but in actual matches, timing it well can swing your whole turn.

Why it hits so hard in Mega mirrors

The big reason Calem works right now is the format itself. Mega decks aren't exactly hiding. Mega Altaria ex, Mega Gengar ex, and other bulky evolution lines tend to fill the board by the middle turns, so Calem often stops being a one-card cantrip and starts acting like a serious refill. That's the sweet spot. You don't have to pitch your hand like you would with more reckless draw supporters, and that matters in decks that need to keep specific pieces around. If you've ever sat there needing one more evolution card, one energy, or just a clean line into your next attacker, you'll get why this card feels so good when it lands at the right moment.

Where the card starts to feel rough

That said, it's not some auto-include in every list. Early turns can be miserable. If nobody has reached their Mega yet, Calem barely does anything, and burning your Supporter to draw one feels awful. You lose momentum fast. It's also much weaker into decks that don't care about the Mega game at all. Against faster pressure decks or slower control builds with few or no Mega bodies, the ceiling drops hard. That's the real tension in deckbuilding. Every Supporter slot matters, and you're often choosing between flexible disruption, direct gust effects, and a card that can either draw four or do almost nothing depending on the board.

Best homes and sensible copy counts

From what players have been testing lately, Calem makes the most sense in decks that expect longer exchanges and naturally build out multiple Megas. Mega Altaria ex shells are a good example, especially lists that don't want to dump resources too early. Two copies feels about right. One is too easy to miss, while three can get clunky in openers. Dark-based builds using Hydreigon or Absol support pieces can make use of it too, mostly because those decks often play for a heavier mid-game where hand size starts to matter more than raw speed. You'll also notice experienced players rarely snap this off the moment they draw it. Most hold it until turn two or three, then cash in once the board is actually worth counting.

How to judge whether it's worth crafting

If you're playing Mega decks every day, Calem-B2b is absolutely worth having in your pool. Not because it's broken, but because it gives those lists a different kind of draw option, one that rewards patience and board awareness instead of blind cycling. If your local ladder or regular match queue is full of Mega bodies, the card gets better fast. If not, you can probably spend your resources elsewhere and be fine. For players digging deeper into the game, collection planning, or checking out Pokemon TCG Pocket Accounts as part of the broader Pocket ecosystem, Calem stands out as a smart craft for the right meta, not a universal staple, and that distinction is exactly why good players rate it so differently.
